About

What I offer: Embodied Mind Medicine is an integrative psychiatric practice dedicated to healing rather than settling for symptom management. All too often, current psychiatry settles for the latter. I know that change can happen with the right conditions which are different for each patient. Commitment to change and developing the ability to tolerate some discomfort are essential ingredients along with having the proper support. I have a warm and gentle relational style that appreciates coping styles that people have developed over time but am also prepared to examine costs of coping styles that people may have outgrown or now hold them back. Fundamental to my practice and my approach towards treating mental health issues, is to consider not only the mind, but also its interaction with the body. I use an eclectic psychotherapeutic approach combining aspects of mindfulness, lifestyle medicine, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy. While medication will be offered when necessary, I consider medicine as only one tool of many to assist my patients in their healing journey. I strive to minimize or eliminate the need for medication whenever possible. Who I am: I am a graduate of the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. I trained at the Cambridge Health Alliance, one of Harvard Medical School’s residency programs and worked at MIT as an outpatient psychiatrist for 12 years before entering private practice. I am a sub- Investigator and research therapist for the MAPS phase 3 trial studying use of MDMA- assisted psychotherapy as a treatment for PTSD. I have always been interested in discovery of new strategies for healing and growth and am in the process of exploring how the field of psychedelic assisted therapy can contribute to the field of psychiatry. Over the course of my career, I had the privilege of working with many international clients and I am skilled in providing cross cultural care. In addition to the practice of medicine, I have long standing practices in mindfulness, yoga, and dance.
